August 2017 sales of FoMoCo’s Ford brand totaled 201,189 units in the United States, a decrease of 2.0 percent compared to August 2016.
Sales on an individual model basis were as follows:
- Ford C-Max sales increased 8.07 percent to 1,714 units
- Ford E-Series sales increased 3.77 percent to 4,894 units
- Ford Edge sales decreased 3.27 percent to 10,838 units
- Ford Escape sales decreased 15.79 percent to 23,631 units
- Ford Expedition sales decreased 50.76 percent to 2,819 units, with a 7.1 percent increase at retail
- The overall decline in Expedition sales volume is the result of fleet order timing
- Ford Explorer sales decreased 0.92 percent to 18,125 units, with a 6.1 percent increase at retail
- About 35 percent of Explorer retail sales were comprised of high series Limited, Sport and Platinum models
- The model continues to grow in the coast markets, with Boston sales increase 10 percent, Philadelphia up 21 percent and New York up 18 percent
- The overall decline in Explorer sales volume is the result of fleet order timing
- Ford F-Series sales increased 15.03 percent to 77,007 units
- August marked the start of sales for the new 2018 Ford F-150, with 54 percent of customers requesting Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trim trucks with 88 percent in SuperCrew and almost 60 percent equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 engine
- Demand remains strong for high trim-level F-Series Super Duty trucks, with Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum accounting for 53 percent or retail sales during the month. This, together, with demand for Raptor, resulted in a $3,400 gain in F-Series average transaction prices versus 2016, which is now $45,600 per vehicle
- Average Transaction Prices for F-Series Super Duty totaled over $55,000 per truck, a $5,500 increase. This is $7,000 more than the average transaction pricing of the luxury segment, at $48,000.
- Ford Fiesta sales decreased 14.13 percent to 4,247 units
- Ford Flex sales increased 3.67 percent to 1,895 units
- Ford Focus sales increased 9.16 percent to 12,850 units
- Ford Fusion sales decreased 8.79 percent to 17,378 units
- Ford GT sales totaled 13 units
- Ford Heavy Trucks sales decreased 18.95 percent to 868 units
- Ford Mustang sales decreased 33.31 percent to 5,535 units
- Ford Police Interceptor Sedan sales decreased 18.01 percent to 724 units
- Ford Police Interceptor Utility sales decreased 2.38 percent to 2,622 units
- Ford Taurus sales decreased 13.91 percent to 2,179 units
- Ford Transit sales decreased 15.18 percent to 10,172 units
- Ford Transit Connect sales increased 0.88 percent to 3,678 units
In the first eight months of 2017, U.S. Ford brand deliveries decreased 4.38 percent to 1,637,291 units.
