Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford is scheduled to speak at the Detroit Economic Club on October 31st about disrupting the future with new technologies. Spooky stuff.
The great-grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford will participate in a “fireside chat” with outgoing Detroit Economic Club President and CEO Beth Chappell, in which they’ll discuss embracing new trends in technology, Ford’s Smart Mobility program, and the impacts that emerging mobility technologies are expected to have on Detroit, the automotive industry, and society as a whole.
The event is scheduled to take place on October 31st starting at 12:30 pm at Ford Field – the indoor stadium of the Detroit Lions NFL team.
In addition to working toward the development and implementation of fully-autonomous cars, Ford’s Smart Mobility program was launched to take a holistic look at transportation in the modern age, and how it can be transformed to better serve the needs of the public. A number of different services, ranging from car-hailing/carsharing, to on-demand shuttles, to all manner of gizmos designed to ease first- and last-mile transportation, are being worked on as part of Ford Smart Mobility.
Ford President and CEO Jim Hackett, who replaced Mark Fields in May of this year, was previously the CEO of subsidiary Ford Smart Mobility LLC.
