VMP Performance Prepares A ‘Triathlete’ Ford Focus RS For SEMA 2017

The folks over at VMP Performance are preparing their special, one-off custom build for the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas next month: a 2017 Ford Focus RS dubbed “Triathlete”. The car is so named for its proclaimed mastery of three different racing disciplines: the road course, the quarter-mile, and the twisty mountain road. It’s kitted up with a whole suite of pieces from Anderson Composites, including a carbon-fiber hood, custom rear spoiler, rear diffuser, front splitter, racey rocker panels, and custom fog light surrounds.

VMP Performance’s “Triathlete” Ford Focus RS achieves its multi-disciplinary athleticism partly with the help of a cat-back exhaust and short-throw shifter from Ford Performance, Levels Performance intercooler, Cobb Tuning carbon-fiber cold-air intake, Turbosmart wastegate actuator, and a Kompact dual-port blow-off valve. A Cobb Tuning Accessport handheld tuner helped unlock the full powertrain performance potential.

Aiding the car’s handling is an Air Lift Performance Series suspension, 19-inch Forgestar CF5 Deep Concave wheels with a square 9.5-inch setup, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber. A set of DBA USA 4000 series T3 slotted rotors front and rear assist in hauling the car to a stop.

Inside, a Brey-Krause bolt-in harness bar and Simpson Racing 5-point harnesses let you know this “Triathlete” Focus RS means business. A Ford shift knob, instrument cluster, and window switch cover all rendered in carbon fiber further communicate its commitment to performance – while perhaps not helping shed very much weight by themselves.

VMP Performance’s athletic 2017 Ford Focus RS will make its debut at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association Show being held from October 31st through November 3rd. Stay tuned for more custom Ford builds that will be in attendance.
