Ford F-150, Expedition Win 2018 Kelley Blue Book ‘Best Buy’ Honors

Ford Motor Company garnered itself two Kelley Blue Book “Best Buy” awards for 2018, winning in the categories of “Pickup Truck” and “Full-Size SUV” with the refreshed, 2018 Ford F-150 and all-new, 2018 Ford Expedition, respectively. This marks Ford’s fourth consecutive year with a vehicle on the list, which is largely dominated by Japanese automaker Honda.

The Ford F-150 made the cut each of those three previous consecutive years, starting with the 2015 model, which debuted the truck’s revolutionary, lightweight aluminum body.

“For four years straight, the Ford F-150 has taken the pickup truck honors in our Best Buy competition,” KBB’s editors write. “And, for four years straight, nobody else has come close to toppling it. This year, Ford updated the styling, added a new base engine, expanded the availability of its excellent 10-speed automatic, and promises to add a turbodiesel to its lineup of engines later this year.”

Like the Ford F-150, the Ford Expedition has also donned an aluminum shell for 2018, receiving the same twin-turbocharged, 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and 10-speed automatic. It’s been completely re-engineered for the first time in a decade, and offers a brand-new FX4 off-road package.

“A decade is a long time to wait for a major model makeover, but Ford’s efforts have earned the Expedition its first Best Buy Award right out of the gate,” KBB writes. “From powertrain and driving dynamics to technology and practicality, the 2018 Ford Expedition is the new class leader.”

Kelley Blue Book’s Best Buy Awards are given based on a thorough analysis of new vehicles that assesses things like pricing, sales information, customer reviews, and a 5-year cost-to-own projection.
