Ford’s new, third-generation 5.0L Coyote V8 with dual-injection offers a lot more performance potential than the Ford 5.0s of yore. Just take a look at the Mustang GT, whose peak power rating has leapt from 435 horsepower to 460 with the introduction of the newly-revised, 2018 model.
Ford Performance is taking full advantage; at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show currently in progress, Ford’s enthusiast-focused division announced a brand-new supercharger system for the upgraded Coyote V8, capable of boosting output up to 700 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque in the Mustang GT. The gains are a bit more modest for Coyote-equipped 2018 Ford F-150s: 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft.
Ford Performance collaborated with Roush Performance to engineer the new supercharger kit, building on a partnership that stretches back more than two decades.
“Our teams collaborated to create the most highly engineered, tested and performing supercharger kit on the market,” says Roush Performance Chairman Jack Roush. “The combination of the 2018 5.0-liter engine and our all-new, fully integrated 2650 supercharger system yields simply incredible, no-compromise performance.”
Ford Performance’s all-new supercharger kit will be available from early-2018, carrying a warranty against defect – assuming installation is performed by a Ford dealer or ASE-certified technician. For more exciting Ford news from the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, stay tuned.
