The Ford Authority Take

It would appear that Ford is planning on introducing a new powertrain line called PowerBoost. Based on the trademark application, it seems that FoMoCo will use PowerBoost in conjunction with battery/electrified propulsion systems such as hybrid powertrains. The name appears to play off Ford’s famous EcoBoost brand of turbocharged engines, which has become the automaker’s most popular engine line.
