Ford Motor Company U.S. Sales Increase 6.7 Percent To 210,771 Units In November 2017

Ford Motor Company reported 210,771 new vehicle deliveries for November 2017 in the U.S. market, a 6.7 percent increase compared to November 2016. Sales increased at the Ford brand and decreased at Lincoln.

“Strong customer demand for Motor Trend’s new Truck of the Year drove F-Series sales past the 70,000 mark last month, a November number achieved just three other times in history. In addition, Ford brand SUVs continued their outstanding performance with sales up 13 percent for their best November since 2000″, said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service.

FoMoCo sales overview:

Sales types:

  • Cumulative Ford Motor Company sales, which consist of Ford and Lincoln sales, increased 6.7 percent to 210,771 units:
    • Retail sales increased 1.3 percent to 156,064 vehicles, accounting for 74 percent of total Ford Motor Company November 2017 sales
    • Fleet sales, including daily rental, commercial and government segments, increased 25.9 percent to 54,707 units due to order timing. Fleet sales accounted for 26 percent of total Ford Motor Company November 2017 sales:
      • Daily rental deliveries accounted for 10.4 percent of total sales, up 4.9 percentage points
      • Commercial deliveries accounted for 10.3 percent of total sales, flat year-over-year
      • Government deliveries accounted for 5.3 percent of total sales, down 0.9 percentage points
    • Car sales increased 2.0 percent to 44,984 units
    • SUV sales increased 13.3 percent to 74,186 units
    • Truck sales increased 4.1 percent to 91,601 units

Average Transaction Prices (ATPs):

  • Ford Motor Company did not disclose ATPs for November but did report a $3,800 increase on F-Series trucks to $47,100 per truck thanks to continued strong demand for both high series Super Duty and 2018 F-150.

Inventory:

  • November month-end inventory on a gross stock level, which includes in-transit and dealer stock, was 659,976 units for a 78 days supply, representing:
    • An increase of 23,069 units from the 636,907 units at the end of October 2017
    • A decreased of 1 days from the 79 days supply at the end of October 2017
    • An increase of 5,915 units from the 654,061 units at the end of November 2016
    • A decrease of 5 days from the 83 days supply at the end of November 2017
  • November month-end inventory on the ground, which consists exclusively of vehicles in dealer stock, was 525,350 units for a 62 days supply, representing:
    • An increase of 3,942 units from the 521,408 units at the end of October 2017
    • A decrease of 3 days from the 65 days supply at the end of October 2017
    • A decrease of 20,382 units from the 545,7332 units at the end of November 2016
    • A decrease of 7 days from the 69 days supply at the end of November 2016

Ford sales increased 7.3 percent to 201,862 units:

  • Ford C-Max sales decreased 4.57 percent to 1,462 units
  • Ford E-Series sales decreased 4.48 percent to 4,494 units
  • Ford Edge sales increased 22.52 percent to 13,180 units, establishing a new November record; Edge retail sales were up 25.5 percent
  • Ford Escape sales increased 9.08 percent to 25,101 units
  • Ford Expedition sales decreased 24.1 percent to 3,950 units
  • Ford Explorer sales increased 24.79 percent to 21,520 units; representing its best November sales performance in 13 years; retail sales increased 24.2 percent
    • The gains came from every region of the country, with the biggest gain coming from the southeast, where sales increased 32 percent
  • Ford F-Series sales increased 0.94 percent to 72,769 units, representing its best November sales performance since 2001; customer demand for high-series trucks remains “strong”, according to Ford
  • Ford Fiesta sales increased 6.6 percent to 3,035 units
  • Ford Flex sales increased 21.65 percent to 1,798 units
  • Ford Focus sales increased 44.86 percent to 13,226 units, representing its fifth straight month of sales gains
  • Ford Fusion sales decreased 15.14 percent to 14,901 units
  • Ford GT sales totaled 16 units
  • Ford Heavy Trucks sales decreased 50.04 percent to 566 units
  • Ford Mustang sales increased 8.46 percent to 6,720 units
  • Ford Police Interceptor Sedan sales decreased 27.36 percent to 616 units
  • Ford Police Interceptor Utility sales increased 8.69 percent to 2,590 units
  • Ford Taurus sales increased 11.42 percent to 2,146 units
  • Ford Transit sales increased 47.07 percent to 10,852 units
  • Ford Transit Connect sales increased 7.31 percent to 2,920 units
  • Ford van sales, including Transit Connect and E-Series, posted their best November results since 1984
  • Ford brand SUV sales increased 13.4 percent on 68,139 vehicles sold, with retail sales growing 11.6 percent for
    the month; the automaker is seeing strong interest in the new Expedition, which recorded its first sales in
    November
  • Ford is seeing a growing number of women buyers for its Escape and Edge, with women now representing 54 percent of Escape customers and 48 percent of Edge customers

Lincoln sales decreased 5.5 percent to 8,909 units:

In the first 11 months of 2017, Ford Motor Company sales decreased 1.3 percent to 2,344,666 units.
