2018 Lincoln Navigator Wins Two Readers’ Choice Awards: NAIAS 2018

At the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the all-new, 2018 Lincoln Navigator was selected the winner of two Detroit News “Readers’ Choice” Awards: “Best Road-Trip Ride”, and the prestigious “Best of Show”. The Navigator is all-new for 2018, having been drastically redesigned inside and out, and given the same twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 and 10-speed automatic transmission as the new Ford Expedition.

That engine and transmission combo also serves as the top-of-the-line powertrain for the Ford F-150 pickup, from 2017 on.

Of course, it’s probably not just the powertrain that The Detroit News’ readers had on their minds when they voted the SUV “Best Road-Trip Ride” and “Best of Show”, nor is it likely they were thinking about the new, lighter-weight aluminum alloy body. More probably, they picked the Lincoln Navigator for its handsome good looks, its sumptuous interior, and its bevy of high-tech features.

Among the Navigator’s many available features are a speed-dependent adaptive lighting system that alters the spread of the headlamps as vehicle speed changes; driver seat, mirror, and pedal position memory settings; and SYNC 3 infotainment with an embedded modem for on-the-road 4G LTE service and mobile WiFi hotspot. Also on offer is a rear seat entertainment system with Slingbox TV integration, which allows rear seat passengers to stream live television on the go.

“Best Road-Trip Ride” indeed.

Beside the Lincoln Navigator, one additional Ford vehicle won a Detroit News “Readers’ Choice” award: the Ford GT supercar, which was named “Best Dream Machine”.
