“Share the Road” is the slogan behind Ford’s Team Sky partnership in an effort to promote harmony and empathy between drivers and cyclists who must share the road on a daily basis.
The Ranger pickup comes equipped with a special bike rack and transports medical staff, food, drink bottles, feed zone teams, and mechanics. The pickup’s high driving position allows the driver to spot potholes easier and choose the best riding lines, making it likely choice for the cycling event.
“We are proud to get right behind ‘Share the Road’ – most of us are cyclists and drivers and fully support a campaign that highlights the benefits of looking out for each other,” said Servais Knaven, sport director, Team Sky.
Starting in 2016, Ford is the exclusive supplier of cars and vans for Team Sky, resulting in more than 100 victories. The blue oval also supplies Team Sky with Ford Mondeo ST-Line wagons equipped with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD), S-MAX with Intelligent AWD, Edge, Tourneo and Transit vehicles.
The Tour de France started on July 7 and finishes on July 29. Race fans can follow Team Sky’s progress on Twitter via @TeamSky and by using the hashtags #TDF2018 and #GoTeamSky.
