Lincoln Corsair: New SUV Fast Tracked Ahead Of Schedule

The upcoming Lincoln MKC replacement, which will likely be renamed the Lincoln Corsair, is now on track for 2020, a year ahead of the original production schedule, according to sources. This earlier-than-expected date may be caused by a devotion to revamping crossovers and SUVs and the blue oval’s gradual elimination of sedans.

According to sources, the style of the Lincoln Corsair borrows many elements from the Aviator Concept. The mirrors, front fenders, and the wider looking stance appear to be taken right off the concept. While the current clamshell tailgate remains, the back of the Lincoln Corsair includes Aviator-inspired tail lights and rear bumper.

With Ford Motor Company determined to incorporate hybrid technology throughout its lineup, one can expect the Lincoln Corsair to offer hybrid/PHEV powertrain, like its Escape cousin, and 4 cylinder Ecoboost.

As far as we know, the Corsair will still be on the C1 platform. According to the rumor mill, the Aviator/Explorer will be the first vehicles to use the new CD6 platform which is supposed to underpin most of the new Ford/Lincoln models.
