An incredibly rare Ford GTX1 is set to appear at the Mecum Car Collector auction floor in Montery from Aug 23-25. Only 30 models of this car were produced in 2005, and the very rare No.24 will be up for grabs. Yes, it’s based off the last-generation Ford GT.
What makes this gem a unique find for car collectors is that this 2005 Ford GTX1 is the only one with the color combination of black with gold striping and accents. Lastly, making it even more rare this car also has the larger trunk which was only installed in three of the 30 cars built.
Besides the sweet paint job and more junk in the trunk, this car holds a lot of additional performance parts, including:
- Whipple Supercharger
- Stainless Works Exhaust
- Adjustable coilover shock
- Wildwood brakes
- Two-piece rotors
- Transaxle cooling system
Other exterior elements this car holds are smoked headlights and taillights, a carbon-fiber splitter, diffuser and rockers. It sits on Michelin Pilot Sport Radials with custom GTX1 alloy wheels, which we think compliment the color scheme well. Interior features include Sparco racing seats, an aluminum short-throw shifter, carbon fiber trim and gold accents. Lastly, as a historical tie you can find many autographs by racing and industry figures such as Carroll Shelby, Roger Penske, Henry Ford III, and more.
Check this piece of history out for yourself on the Mecum site, or in person at the auction floor in Montery.
