New Ford Focus Introduces New Wrong Way Alert Technology: Video

One of the worst scenarios on the roadway is seeing a wrong-way vehicle driving towards traffic at high speeds. In many countries, wrong way drivers are known as “Ghost Riders”.  In an effort to limit the amount of tragic deaths caused by this terrible action, technology has been introduced in the Ford Focus that will warn drivers before cruising down the wrong way of a highway.

Wrong Way Alert technology is built off Ford’s existing Traffic Sign Recognition that uses GPS information to send alerts to drivers. Ford of Europe has recently tested the technology using “no-entry” signs in Lommel, Belgium on its test track. A video posted above will give a more clear picture of how the technology will work in the Ford Focus.

Before being released in the States, if ever, the countries of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland will see the this new technology first. But of course, one should be able to figure out which freeway ramp to avoid by simply paying attention.
