For the 2018 model year, the Ford Mustang was given a (rather controversial) facelift. Now, the 2019 model is getting a few minor changes and updates. Here’s what’s new for the 2019 Ford Mustang.
Colors
The 2019 Ford Mustang gains three new colors, and removes existing ones
Deleted Colors:
- Triple Yellow Tri-Coat
- Lightning Blue
- Royal Crimson Metallic Tinted Clearcoat
New Colors:
- Velocity Blue
- Need For Green
- Dark Highland Green, which is exclusive to the Mustang Bullitt
Exterior
If you were hoping for new looks, then you’ll have to wait until the next-gen Mustang, since the 2019 Mustang receives zero cosmetic adjustments.
Besides the color-related changes, other exterior changes include removing the single option black roof (94B), which will now be part of the black accent package (52B).
In addition, an “over-the-top” racing stripe is now available on all models besides the Bullitt.
Packages
The most significant addition to the 2019 Ford Mustang is the addition of the 2019 Mustang Bullitt. For just under $47,000, one can transform into Steve McQueen.
Also, prospective 2019 Ford Mustang GT buyers can opt for the California Special package to be included on a GT Premium model.
Other package changes are as follows:
- Non-Bullitt models can choose the Bullitt electronics package (500A)
- Blind spot monitors will now be included as a part of 201A and 401A packages
Interior
Inside, the Shaker premium audio system will be replaced by a Bang & Olufsen system, and a CD player will only be available in vehicles equipped with that system.
Three position memory settings for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and ambient lighting will also be included in the 201A and 401A packages.
Finally, FordPass will now be included for five years from the vehicle sale date (as recorded by the dealer).
Mechanical
For Mustang enthusiasts that like to row their own gears, the 2019 Ford Mustang equipped with the 5.0-liter V8 will now come with rev matching – a fairly noteworthy update that makes driving a stick that much better.
A final drive ratio of 3.15 and 3.31 will be exclusive to 200A and 201A models.
Functional
Functionally, the engine block heater is no longer standard in cold-weather states, but can still be added as an option for every 2019 Ford Mustang except for ones with the GT Performance Pack 2 and the Bullitt.
That’s All, Folks
And that’s all that’s new and different for the 2019 Ford Mustang. An all-new model is expected for the 2021 model year on the CD6 platform.
