Ford has released several updates to their commercial lineup at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis on March 5, 2019 including the 2021 Ford Medium Duty series. For the 2021 model year, the Ford F-650 and F-750 Medium Duty trucks are the only Class 6 and 7 trucks that will offer with both gasoline and diesel engine options, which is the biggest news. Minor interior updates and new technology introductions are found, as well.
The choice between the new 7.3-liter gasoline engine and 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel allows customers to specify the performance, efficiency, and cost benefits that best suit their business needs. No matter what engine is chosen, the new F-650 and F-750 will come equipped with Ford’s 6-speed TorqShift heavy-duty automatic transmission.
Inside of the new 2021 Ford Medium Duty truck is an updated instrument panel as well as a new steering column, steering wheel, and cluster. Also, a new AM/FM has ben included that comes standard with with Bluetooth functionality and USB ports. Ford says that this makes getting in the cab and driving the new F-650 or F-750 as familiar as driving a standard Super Duty pickup.
Although the 2021 Ford Medium Duty trucks are meant for commercial use, Ford still prioritizes safety. The Ford Co-Pilot360 technology suite is now available on Ford commercial vehicles for the 2021 model year. For F-650 and F-750 Medium Duty trucks, Ford has included traction control, hill start assist and automatic headlamps as standard. Optional safety elements include adaptive cruise control, electronic stability control, lane departure warning, a Driver Alert System, and automatic high-beam headlamps.
In 2018 Ford sold 12,096 Heavy Trucks, which is comprised of the Ford F-650 and Ford F-750 Heavy Trucks, but do not include Ford F-Series sales, such as the F-150, F-250, F-350 or F-450.
