Sometimes one of the biggest challenges for those who are suffering from a major medical condition or disease is just getting to the doctor or hospital for treatment. Ford has announced that Ford Warriors in Pink and GoRide Health have teamed up to offer free medical rides to breast cancer patients. Ford says that GoRide Health will provide free rides to medical appointments for the rest of the year.
For lots of people with breast cancer, driving restrictions post-surgery and limited help makes getting to appointments very difficult. One patient called Stephanie M. had just such a problem. She says that it was a “huge relief” to have reliable transportation.
GoRide Health uses special upfitted Ford Transit vans and specially trained drivers to help patients to and from their medical appointments. GoRide Health and Ford Warriors in Pink are offering the complimentary rides starting today, and the rides are unlimited.
The free rides are being offered in the current service areas for GoRide Health; those service areas are Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, Cincinnati, and Detroit metro areas. Ford says as GoRide Health launches in other areas, the new areas will offer complimentary rides to appointments for breast cancer patients.
Rides can be used for trips to a doctor appointment, treatment services, or to the pharmacy. Patients will also be able to take one companion with them as part of the complimentary service. That will allow the cancer patient to take a caregiver or family member with them. All costs are covered by Ford Warriors in Pink, and eligible riders are verified through the Warriors in Pink website and over the phone at 833-546-7433. Information on the program will be shared with patients in need in all eligible markets via hospitals.
