Ford has unveiled the all-new 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Mustang racecar that marks the fifth all-new Mustang racer that Ford has unveiled in the past year. Other new Mustang race cars that Ford has unveiled in the last year are competing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, National Hot Rod Association Funny Car division, Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, and grassroots Cobra Jet. Ford says that all of the Mustangs have found their way into the winner circle in their racing series.
The new Mustangs, including the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Mustang, were all projects that included members of the Ford engineering and aerodynamics teams based out of the Ford Performance Technical Center in Concord, NC. That facility has been transforming its purpose from that of creating only racing cars, to creating streetcars as well. The epic 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was developed there.
The best success in racing for the Mustang has come in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship where the Mustang won 17 out of the first 20 races of the season and has clinched the Supercars Manufacturer’s Championship, and the season is only halfway complete. DJR Team Penske has won 16 of those events counting the 14 victories of Scott McLaughlin. DJR Team Penske is the team that raised $30,000 for charity by selling posters that landed McLaughlin a $10,000 fine.
Tech in the racing world is a closely held secret that race teams and car developers don’t share. As such, there are no hard details on the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Mustang that Ford unveiled. The new generation NASCAR Mustang will take to the track next season. Since the NASCAR Mustang started racing full time in 2011, it has won the driver’s championship three times and the owner’s title on six occasions.

I wish Ford would get back into IndyCar with Cosworth.
