Ford Performance Parts has announced new suspension kits for Ford F-150 and Ford Ranger owners who don’t want a full lift but want to balance their trucks out with a leveling kit. The Ford Ranger Off-Road Leveling Kit and Ford F-150 Off-Road Leveling Kit are both after-purchase add ons that include tuned suspension parts to make the trucks perform better off-road. Ford says that the majority of Ford F-150 and Ford Ranger trucks are purchased with 4×4 drivetrains.
To expand on the capability of those trucks for off-road enthusiasts, and to make the trucks look better the dealer-installed kits for the Ranger and the F-150 have high-quality parts in the kits. The Ford F-150 Off-Road Leveling Kit and the Ford Ranger Off-Road Leveling Kit both share the same components, including new aluminum FOX shocks that are designed for ample cooling capacity over rough terrain.
In the front, the Ford F-150 Off-Road Leveling Kit brings with it front coilover springs; the Ranger kit offers the same feature. Ford Performance Parts says that the new front coilover springs deliver optimal spring rates. Each kit comes with vehicle-specific upper front mounts with polyurethane bushings to isolate noise and vibration.
Both the Ford F-150 Off-Road Leveling Kit and the Ranger Off-Road Leveling Kit lift the front end of the Ford trucks by two inches. Ford and FOX worked together on the leveling kits to develop unique internal valving that would deliver performance and predictable handling on and off-road. Both kits add ground clearance to the trucks and improve approach and breakover angles.
Ford Performance says that the Ranger sees approximately a 21 percent increase in approach angle and a 10 percent increase in breakover angle. The F-150 leveling kit brings a 145-inch wheelbase F-150 roughly 22 percent increase in approach angle and 7 percent increase in breakover angle. Both kits were optimized in high-speed off-road driving and low-speed rock crawling. The Ford F-150 Off-Road Leveling Kit and the Ranger Off-Road Leveling Kits cost $1,495 before installation and can be installed on any 4×4 pickup. The kits will be available later this fall. These kits will give the trucks more style and performance for those not wanting to spend F-150 Raptor money.
