Competitive Sales Comparison
The third quarter of 2019 marked the third quarter of Ford Ranger sales in the United States market. During that time frame, sales of the midsize pickup truck totaled 26,211 units, which is roughly 6,000 more than the 20,880 units delivered during the second quarter and significantly more than the 9,421 deliveries during the first quarter. Even so, the Ranger’s Q3 sales performance is less than half of Toyota Tacoma sales during the quarter, and roughly five thousand units less than Chevrolet Colorado sales, with the midsize Ford truck narrowing the gap on both models during Q3. The Ranger also widened the sales gap in relation to the Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Frontier and GMC Canyon.

The Ford Authority Take
It’s very welcome news to see Ford Ranger sales continue to grow, with the Ford truck establishing a very solid third place in its segment. The timing is ripe for the Ranger’s arrival considering current market trends, which strongly favor crossovers, SUVs, and trucks over sedans – which Ford has rapidly discontinued.
Looking forward, we expect Ford Ranger sales volume to grow in the coming quarters as interest and awareness of the model increases, and availability continues at optimal levels at the retail/dealer level. The ongoing increase in Ranger sales volume, however, is contingent on Ford being able to meet demand by producing enough units at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, and keeping interest by ongoing marketing and sales incentive efforts.

Comment
We may see a few months of over 10K sales next year. I just wonder if the startup of Bronco production will hamper the build rate.
Great job Ford!
