The Ford Authority Take

The increase in Ford Edge sales during Q3 2019 is welcome news after the 6-percent sales decrease in the second quarter, particularly considering current market trends that strongly favor crossovers and SUVs over sedans. The Edge’s third quarter growth enabled the sales volume during the first nine months of the 2019 calendar year to see a slight increase of two percent.

We attribute the increase in Q3 2019 Edge sales to the following factors:

  1. A desirable and competitive product represented by the second-generation Ford Edge.
  2. Healthy incentives during the third quarter.
  3. Sub-par availability of the new Ford Explorer, causing those customers who needed a new vehicle during the Q3 timeframe but couldn’t get an Explorer to choose an Edge.

It’s also encouraging to learn that sales of the Ford Edge ST sold at twice the rate compared to Edge Sport during Q3 of 2018. The differences between the Edge ST and the Edge Sport it replaced isn’t significant, but noteworthy nonetheless, as it contributes to a better product.

Frankie's first favorite car was a 1968 Ford Mustang, and he's had a strong appreciation for the nameplate ever since. Later in his youth he became infatuated with Eleanor, thanks to Nicholas Cage's stellar performance. Frank's a real jokester, too.
