If American’s think it’s hard to find a 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt, be glad you don’t live in New Zealand. Ford only allocated 51 2019 Bullitt Mustang cars for all of New Zealand, making them hard to find. One Kiwi was able to buy his dream Mustang after winning an online auction for the car. This car had a special background.
It was registered back in 2018 and had been the Ford New Zealand promotional and press vehicle. That means the car had been pictured online and in print magazines in the country. The auction raged, and eventually, it sold for $95,100 in local currency. The deal that Ford New Zealand had made was that any money above the reserve price of $65,698.51 would be donated to the children’s charity Variety.
The 2019 Bullitt Mustang auction ended with the charity being given $29,400. Ford New Zealand has been supporting Variety for 29 years and said that it was delighted that the car had contributed more to the charity. Ford New Zealand managing director Simon Rutherford said that it was great to see the car go to a devoted Mustang fan, and kids in the country would get a boost from the charity as well.
The auction was also supported by Trade Me by waving listing fees and providing promotional assistance. During the auction, the car had been on display at North Harbour Ford. The Bullitt Mustang was the very first of the 51 cars allocated to New Zealand. The Mustang was coated in Dark Highland Green with subtle chrome accents and no badges, just as the Bullitt Mustangs sold in the States, and elsewhere, are. In NZ, the car is rated at 345kW and 556NM of torque. Check out the Steve McQueen Edition Steeda Bullitt Mustang.
