Anyone who spent time off-road knows that sometimes you need a winch to get yourself out of trouble. Be it getting yourself out of mud or pulling yourself over a rock that you can’t seem to get the traction to clear a winch can be handy. Many off-road enthusiasts were excited when Ford announced the 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor pickup with its large wheels and tires and off-road-ready suspension. Ford has now announced that the Ford Performance Parts winch by Warn will be available as a factory-orderable option or a dealer-installed after-purchase accessory.
The winch offers 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor buyers 12,000 pounds of winching capacity and can be installed in both the gas and diesel-powered Super Duty Tremor pickups. Ford says that it developed this winch in cooperation with Warn specifically to meet Built Ford Tough truck standards. Ford says that the winch was developed with crash safety and capability at the top of mind, and the fully integrated winch is mounted behind the steel bumper.
The mounting system allows optimal airflow and clearance regardless of engine choice. The winch uses high-tensile strength, abrasion-resistant synthetic cable that should be able to pull owners out of just about any sticky situation. The winch offers the only wireless remote control in its class, along with provisions for a wired remote. Ford says that the Ford Performance Parts winch by Warn will be available starting in mid-2020 for $3,000. That is a hefty price for a winch when you can buy aftermarket versions for much less money.
Ford reminds us that the Tremor package is available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks. The pickups have up to a 21,900 pound towing capacity for gooseneck trailers with the available diesel engine and a maximum towing of 15,000 pounds for conventional trailers.
