A few days ago, we talked about how well Ford is doing in the UK with vehicles on the top of the sales chart. The top-selling car in the UK is the Ford Fiesta. Two more Ford cars sit in the top five for top sales numbers. The third-best-selling vehicle in the UK during 2019 was the Ford Transit van.
Sitting right under the Ford Transit van is the Ford Focus. In the top five, the only two vehicles weren’t Fords. Those were the VW Golf sitting in the second spot and the Vauxhall Corsa sitting in the fifth-place spot. The sales numbers for Ford Europe show that the automaker moved 57,494 Ford Transit vans in 2019.
The Ford Focus sold 56,619 units to take the fourth-place spot. The top seller was the Ford Fiesta moving 77,833 units, significantly more units that the Golf sold in second place at 58,994. The Vauxhall Corsa sold 54,239 units for fifth.
The Ford Transit has been the top-selling commercial vehicle in Britain for the last 54 years. Ford has topped the passenger car sales numbers for 43 years in Britain. The Transit was only 1,500 units from beating the Golf for the second-place spot on the list.
Other highlights for Ford Europe include the EcoSport selling 25,451 units for the year, which is its best year yet. Sales of the aging model indicate that sales for the Puma should be strong. Another interesting tidbit from Ford Europe is that it sells more expensive trims like the Titanium, Vignale, ST-Line, and ST than base trims. Those high-level trims accounted for 81 percent of its new car sales in 2019. The Ford Transit PHEV recently received a Euro NCAP 5 star rating.
