Hankook Tire has announced that it has been chosen to be original equipment tires on the Ford Super Duty F-450 and F-550 chassis cab. The Ford Super Duty series is one of the best-selling trucks in the United States. Hankook says that Ford’s choice underscores the quality and performance of its tires for US automakers. The specific tire that will be used on the Super Duty Chassis Cab pickups is the Hankook SmartFlex DH35 and AH35.
The Hankook SmartFlex DH35 and AH35 feature specially designed tread to deliver low rolling resistance and excellent driving performance. The AH35 has multi-3D sipes anchored in the tread to improve traction. The combination of straight and wave-shaped grooves improves water run-off and sustainability to prevent aquaplaning.
The tires also have a stiff tread block that promotes fuel-efficient operation. The tires also have a special tread design that supports even tire wear to reduce the total cost of ownership sustainably. The Hankook SmartFlex DH35 covers a wide contact area with four zig-zag grooved lines across the entire tread surface to result in increased mileage and driving performance in various road and traffic conditions. Improvements in tire performance has not resulted in the loss of the appearance of the tires either, Hankook says that both tires were honored with a Red Dot Award in 2016 for design.
The DH35 only recently launched in America and will be available to the public soon in sizes including 225/70R19.5 14PR, 245/70R19.5 16PR, and 265/70R19.5 14PR. Hankook notes that the size fitted to Ford’s Super Duty pickups are the 225/70R19.5 14PR. Hankook supplies the tires for several different Ford models as original equipment. One of the other Ford vehicles Hankook provides the tires for is the 2020 Ford Explorer.
