It wasn’t too long ago that the world seemed up in arms over the video that Elon Musk posted of his electric Cybertruck pulling a 2WD Ford F-150 pickup. Everyone was quick to point out the problems with the highly unscientific test, including Neil deGrasse Tyson. We later learned that the Cybertruck was expected to be rated as a medium-duty pickup making it more appropriate to pit against a Ford Super Duty than a Ford F-150.
A video has turned up on YouTube that is a rather funny spoof showing a one-half scale Tesla Cybertruck in a tug-of-war with a Ford F-150 pickup. Hacksmith Industries built the shrunken down Cybertruck on a golf cart frame. The finished product looks exactly like the full-sized Cybertruck on the outside, meaning it’s pretty ugly.
Once the half-scale Cybertruck was finished, the guys sat about testing it against a full-size F-150, among other vehicles, which we guess is about as fair as Elon Musk’s tug-o-war test. The Cybertruck was pitted against a side-by-side in the tug-o-war contest and did surprisingly very well.
The final test was pitting it against a 2010 Ford F-150 XLT pickup featuring a 5.4-liter V-8 engine making 310 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. In the first event, the F-150 won easily. The guys decided to put 1000 pounds in the bed of the Cybertruck and ran the test again. With the extra weight in the truck, half-scale Tesla Cybertruck pulled out the win. This video is very cool and while not scientific at all, it’s worth a watch.
