First-Ever Black Ford Oval Comes To 2020 Ford Super Duty Lariat Sport Package

When it debuted for the 2019 model year, the Lariat Sport Package for the Ford Super Duty proved to be quite the revelation, combining the luxuries and tech upgrades of the Lariat trim level with the blacked-out trim of the Sport package. And now, the 2020 Ford Super Duty Lariat Package is back for Ford’s revised heavy-duty truck with one very intriguing update – a black Ford logo.

The introduction of the black Ford oval marks a rather notable change for the 2020 Ford Super Duty Lariat Sport Package. Though it may seem minor, it’s actually a bigger deal than most realize. That’s because, as the automaker told journalists who attended the truck’s first drive event in Arizona in January, this is “the first time in America” that Ford has used a black Ford Oval on any vehicle (rather than a blue one).

As before, the 2020 Ford Super Duty Lariat Sport Package is available on either the F-250 Lariat or F-350 Lariat Crew Cab 4×4 SRW models. It can also be had in conjunction with the offroad-focused Super Duty Tremor package.

The package consists of various Ebony Black exterior accents, including include the 6-inch angular running boards, 20-inch painted premium aluminum wheels, fender vent accent, front grille bars and mirror caps. In addition, the all-LED headlights no longer have black exterior trim/edging, but now incorporate blacked-out surrounds inside the lenses.

The 2020 Ford Super Duty Lariat Sport also features wheel well liners, LT275/65R 20E OWL A/T tires (for models without the Tremor package), as well as body-color front and rear bumpers. In addition, the package features a “Tough Bed” that comes with a spray-in bedliner and includes tailgate-guard, black box bed tie-down hooks, and black bed attachment bolts for increased utility and handsome looks.

Given the growing popularity of black-out packages these days, it’s great to see FoMoCo give its legendary blue oval the black treatment for the 2020 Super Duty, and we’re hoping to see the black logo expand to many other Ford models.
