The Ford Authority Take

Ford Brazil sales were severely impacted by the unfavorable conditions generated by the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020. The result was even worse than April‘s, representing the lowest sales volume in decades.

The setback was the result of Ford models suffering large drops in sales volume, though there was one bright spot: the Ford Ranger. The midsize pickup truck once again stood out for seeing the smallest drop compared to May 2019. In addition, Ranger sales actually increase in May compared to the prior month of April (1,400 registrations in May vs. 1,070 in April).

The mid-size pickup is handling the crisis imposed by COVID-19 better than the other Ford models thanks to the recent introduction of the new Ranger Storm, which has significantly improved the model’s performance in both Brazil and Argentina.
