When the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport were revealed last night, interested customers were also able to reserve their vehicle with a $100 refundable deposit. And by all accounts, it seems like quite a few people took advantage of that offer, as Ford’s site crashed and was down for some time. For both those that secured Bronco reservations and those that are still thinking about doing so, it’s worth asking what, exactly, does holding a reservation mean?
Wonder no more, because we’ve got all the answers. According to Ford, Bronco reservations save a person’s model selection and reserves them a spot when the Bronco and Bronco Sport become available to order. Reservation holders are able to modify their vehicles selections before converting them to an actual order, so no worries for those who might’ve already changed their mind.
After selecting a vehicle and putting down that $100 refundable deposit, a dealer must also be chosen. That dealer will reach out to the reservation holder when it’s time to place the order, verify pricing, and configure the rest of the vehicle. Once all of this information is verified, the order will be confirmed. This is expected to take place in July for the Bronco Sport, and December for the Bronco.
However, there are several important things to note about Bronco reservations. For starters, they are not actual orders and do not guarantee delivery of or a set price for the vehicle. Additionally, only Ford dealers who are eligible and have activated online reservations can be selected. Customers can reach out to Ford Customer Support for assistance should they need to change dealers.
The reservation deposit will be handled by the selected dealer along with the other details of your vehicle purchase, and the purchase agreement is between the reservation holder and the dealer, not Ford. Reservations will be fulfilled in approximately the same order received, based on final ordering and production of similarly configured Broncos. All reservations will be completed before production of stock units begins.
Customers can make up to two reservations per account, but they are not transferable. The $100 deposit is fully refundable, and upon cancellation, will be refunded to the original form of payment in 7 to 10 business days. Once a reservation is processed to an order with a dealer, however, cancellation requests would be at that dealer’s discretion. Customers are able to track their existing reservations at any time through their Ford account.
