Ford Argentina Sales Decrease 44 Percent In August 2020

Ford Argentina sales decreased 44 percent to 2,783 units in August 2020 compared to August 2019 results. The figures place Ford as the sixth best-selling automobile brand in Argentina, behind Volkswagen, Toyota, Chevrolet, Renault and Fiat in first through fifth, respectively.

Individual model sales performance was as follows:

Ford EcoSport sales decreased 38.96 percent to 564 units
Ford F-Series sales totaled 19 units
Ford Fiesta sales decreased 97.7 percent to 8 units

Ford Focus sales decreased 98.56 percent to 9 units
- The vehicle has been discontinued
Ford Ka sales decreased 47.12 percent to 816 units
Ford Kuga sales were flat at 21 units
Ford Mondeo sales decreased 38.98 percent to 36 units
Ford Mustang sales decreased 100 percent to 0 units
Ford Ranger sales decreased 12.81 percent to 1,191 units
Ford Territory sales totaled 22 units
Ford Transit sales increased 167.74 percent to 83 units

During the first eight months of the 2020 calendar year, Ford Argentina sales decreased 48 percent to 19,974 units.

The Ford Authority Take

Ford Argentina sales maintained the negative performance in August, representing the eighth consecutive month of contractions suffered by Ford in the South American country. However, the 2,783 new Fords sold in August was slightly higher than the 2,661 units delivered in July.

Among the overwhelming amount of negative figures is the healthy growth of Ford Transit, both in August and during the first eight months of the year. It’s also worth noting that Ranger has reinforced its position as the brand’s best-selling model in Argentina, surpassing the subcompact Ka for the first time in the year-to-date sales.

Ford Territory

Also worthy of noting is that the new Ford Territory saw its first 22 sales in August in the Argentine market. The compact crossover of Chinese origins is just now being launched in South America.
