The Corsair outsold the rest of the segment, including the new Audi Q3, Cadillac XT4, BMW X1 and X2 (which are the same vehicle with different body styles), and the Infiniti QX30.

The Lincoln Corsair saw a 9 percent segment share during the quarter, which is lower than the 23 percent controlled by Acura RDX and 13 percent each held by the Lexus NX and Buick Envision. It’s also worth noting that combining the deliveries of the two Mercedes-Benz entries gives the Tri-Star brand 9,527 deliveries for a combined share of 16 percent. Meanwhile, combining the deliveries of the two BMW entries gives the roundel 4,075 units, good for a 7 percent segment share.
The compact premium crossover segment (premium crossover C-segment) contracted nearly 11 percent to 60,114 units during the first quarter of 2020.
The Ford Authority Take
The decline in Lincoln Corsair sales during the quarter isn’t surprising given the complications brought on by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which forced Ford, as well as all other automakers, to idle all vehicle production in the Americas, Europe, and China, along with in most other parts of the world. Production resumed in May for Ford’s North American operations.
Once the coronavirus-related issues lift, we expected Corsair sales to fare better than those of the MKC due to the following factors:
- The Corsair is a better, more modern, and more appealing product.
- Increased consumer interest in and demand for luxury crossover SUVs.
- A stronger, more attractive Lincoln brand, resulting in higher interest in and demand for the brand’s products.
About The Numbers
- All percent change figures compared to Lincoln Corsair and MKC sales for Q2 2019, unless noted otherwise
- In the United States, there were 77 selling days in Q2 2020 and 77 selling days in Q2 2019
Comments
Nice, the real question is what’s next for Lincoln? The brand hasn’t shown nothing new coming in the near future
Who was the sixth guy to discover America? Nobody knows Nobody Cares! What useless info!
If Nobody Knows there wasn’t a 6th guy
Silly comparison.
Sixth guy to discover America is one thing. Sixth place in a very lucrative segment is another. The former doesn’t is pointless. The latter results in millions of dollars in revenue in profit. See the difference?
Lincoln will have a hard time winning over observant shoppers who notice the deleted engine cover, the absent spare tire, the rear armrest of the Escape, the lack of rear package shelf and the missing little cargo net on the cubby on the rear lower right trunk panel. Hey guys: It’s a Lincoln, not a Ford in makeup.
