Over the last few years, few vehicles on earth have been as hot as the Ford Bronco. This is partly due to the unveiling of the all-new 2021 Ford Bronco, of course, but can also be attributed to a revised interest in vintage off-road vehicles in general. Regardless, it seems like that interest might be dying down a little bit, at least according to some new data from the Classic Cars Marketplace, which shows that vintage Ford Mustang searches increased last month, while Bronco searches decreased.
In terms of Ford Mustang searches, the 1969 model moved into first place among all vehicles in the marketplace. That particular model year is a regular in the top 5 finishers, but managed to leap past the 1967 Mustang last month, another popular model on the site. “The 1969 Mustang has great styling, classic lines and represents a Baby Boomer’s High School dream car,” explained Tom Stahler, managing editor of the ClassicCars.com Journal.
The ascension of the ’69 Mustang may not come as a huge surprise, but the sudden drop in interest surrounding the Bronco certainly is. Previously a stalwart in the top 5 most searched vehicles, the Bronco dropped out of the top 10 in August, falling all the way to 16th. “Is it possible that we have all OD-ed on Broncos? With the upcoming 2021 models in the works, and a highly active Ford P.R. department, we all have been inundated with the ‘other’ pony,” Stahler said.
Or, perhaps it’s possible that at least a few of those 165,000+ Bronco reservation holders aren’t interested in a vintage model now that they’ve secured a new one. Whatever the reason, this data is certainly interesting, and perhaps good news for those looking to buy an old Bronco. Because as we all well know, less demand will ultimately lead to lower prices.
