While some prefer their classic trucks to retain their classic looks, many are going with a more modern approach these days. That includes this wicked-looking 1986 Ford F-150 that’s currently up for sale at Worldwide Vintage Autos. While this truck is still unmistakably a 1986 Ford F-150, it has also received a host of upgrades that lend it the appearance of a newer pickup, without a doubt.
That starts with a complete and total black-out job for all the trim and pretty much every component located on the outside of the Ford F-150, save for some red fender badges that provide a bit of contrast. The large modern wheels are black as well, and stick out quite far thanks to some aggressive backspacing.
If the exterior color choice wasn’t menacing enough, the F-150 has also been treated to a Superlift suspension lift kit with Bilstein shocks that gives it a towering stance as well. One-ton Ford Super Duty axles help beef things up underneath, which is great if the new owner wants to take this bad boy off-road for a little dirt-slinging action.
This classic F-150 isn’t powered by some regular old gas V8, either, but rather a 5.9L Cummins 12-valve turbo diesel engine backed up by a ZF Ford five-speed manual transmission. The oil burner is fed by a FASS Fuel Systems pump and provides plenty of torque for the regular cab, short bed pickup to haul, tow, or just get up and go.
There are plenty of other modern amenities to be found in this F-150 as well, including power steering and brakes, custom diamond-stitched leather seats, an aftermarket stereo system, air conditioning, Wilwood disc brakes, LED headlights, and digital gauges.
Put it all together, and we’ve got one seriously sinister yet thoroughly modern F-150 from the 1980s, which is a pretty darn nice combo in our opinion.
