The Green Car Journal has announced the finalists for the 2021 Green Car Awards of the Year awards, and a pair of Blue Oval vehicles have made the cut. That includes the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which is battling a variety of all-electric, plug-in hybrid, and gas-electric hybrid models for Green Car of the Year, while the Ford F-150 has been named a finalist in the Green Truck of the Year category.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is joined by the BMW 330e, Hyundai Elantra, MINI Cooper SE, and Volkswagen ID.4 as the finalists for Green Car of the Year. Meanwhile, the Ford F-150 will be going up against the Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado, Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel, and Ram 1500 for top truck honors.
A panel comprised of environmental end energy leaders, plus celebrity auto enthusiast Jay Leno and Green Car Journal editors, will select the winners. Among these jurors are Jean-Michel Cousteau, president of Ocean Futures Society, Mindy Lubber, president of CERES, Dr. Alan Lloyd, president emeritus of the International Council on Clean Transportation and senior research fellow at the Energy Institute, University of Texas at Austin, Clay Nesler, interim president of the Alliance to Save Energy, and Matt Petersen, president and CEO of Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and advisory board chair of Climate Mayors.
The 2021 Green Car of the Year will be revealed during the Green Car Awards presentation at the Virtual Greenbuild Conference + Expo on November 10th, where Green Car Journal will also honor winners in five additional award categories.
