Take A Closer Look At The BDS 2021 Ford F-150 SEMA Build: Video

Just last week, Ford revealed a host of custom builds based on its variety of new 2021 models via a special webcast dubbed Ford Auto Nights during the SEMA Show Special. One of those rides was a 2021 Ford F-150 SEMA custom put together by Ford and BDS Suspension dubbed “Work&Play.” The automaker didn’t provide many details about the special 2021 Ford F-150 at the time, but a new video takes a deeper dive into what makes the pickup so unique.

As is the case with other, similar builds, the 2021 Ford F-150 SEMA Work&Play features a host of one-off prototype parts that will soon be on sale via the aftermarket. That includes an all-new four-inch BDS suspension lift kit that the company designed, built, and tested on this very truck. That suspension lift kit will be available “in the coming months,” according to BDS.

BDS also worked with FOX to fit this pickup with the brand’s 2.5-inch factory race series shocks up front. Out back, the Ford F-150 utilizes a set of piggyback DSC shocks that are also highly adjustable. And since BDS will actually be using the pickup to haul things and tow trailers, it also installed a Rytek air bag system to eliminate rear end sag.

On the outside, the 2021 Ford F-150 SEMA built features a set of Air Designs off-road fender flares covering 35-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires wrapped around 20×10-inch Method Race Series 304 wheels.

The concept behind this cool build was to create a truck that is fully capable of getting the job done all day long, then heading out for some fun on the weekends. And judging by what we’ve seen so far, it sure looks like BDS has pulled it off. Of course, the F-150 is pretty capable in stock form, so all it takes is the right selection of aftermarket goodies to make that happen.
