Across the globe, there isn’t a product that’s in greater demand lately than Sony’s PlayStation 5. The next-generation gaming console is sold out everywhere and selling for ridiculous amounts of money second-hand. So Ford is taking advantage of this fact by offering a PlayStation 5 to every person that purchases a new 2021 Ford Explorer, according to HT Auto. Unfortunately, however, the offer is only for Spanish customers.
It may sound a bit crazy to buy a new vehicle just to get a gaming console, but for those already in the market, it makes a ton of sense, especially for people that are also gamers. Plus, demand for the newest PlayStation is completely off the charts right now, so we’re betting that more than a few folks will pull the trigger, regardless of how silly such a financial decision might sound.
As of right now, there’s no word on how many PS5s Ford has to give away, nor how long this promotion might last. But we imagine that there can’t be a ton available, as Sony recently confirmed that it had sold out of every single unit it had produced thus far, meaning that the supply/demand curve doesn’t figure to improve any time soon.
As we reported previously, the 2021 Explorer will bring a few changes for the new model year, including a drop in price across all trim levels and series. The 2021 Explorer will no longer come standard with paddle shifters, however, and the ST will no longer come with roof rails as standard equipment.
Meanwhile, the XLT Sport appearance package is making a return for the new model year, while the ST will receive some interior enhancements, and two new trim levels – King Ranch and Timberline – will debut as well.
We’ll have more on the 2021 Explorer soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Explorer news and continuous Ford news coverage.
