How To Use Ford F-150 Trailer Theft Alert On FordPass App: Video

The Ford F-150 comes with a host of useful features, some of which can be accessed through the FordPass app. That includes the F-150 Trailer Theft Alert feature, which is new on the 2021 Ford F-150. Trailer Theft Alert can alert owners to potential trailer theft through their smartphones and is part of the pickup’s security system.

F-150 Trailer Theft Alert does require FordPass Connect, which is a modem that’s embedded within the vehicle and enables it to connect to the internet and provide customers with additional functionality such as Live Traffic, Vehicle Health Alerts, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and as was just announced, Guard Mode, which alerts owner to possible van theft or break-ins in Europe.

F-150 Trailer Theft Alert works when the truck is locked and the vehicle alarm is activated, and can alert owners through the FordPass app if the wiring harness going from the truck to the trailer is disconnected, which could signal that an attempted theft is in progress. Users can simply click on the alert for more information, which includes the exact time the trailer disconnect was detected by the F-150’s alarm system.

Trailer Theft Alert is just one of many features 2021 F-150 owners can control through FordPass. They’re also able to turn individual exterior zone lighting on and off, perform a trailer light check to see if any are burned out before hitting the road, and control the Pro Power Onboard generator as well.

These features join others on the new F-150, including over-the-air-update capability, Max Recline Seats, optional Tailgate and Interior Work Surfaces, a digital gauge cluster, available 12-inch display, lockable rear underseat storage, SYNC 4, and a suite of Ford Co-Pilot 360 driver-assist technologies to make the 2021 F-150 the most advanced to date.

  1. So how do you shut it off?? If I leave my trailer attached to my 2021 F150 XLT in my driveway, shut off the engine, and walk into the house… the horn starts blowing. If I just unplug the trailer plug, then the horn blows saying the plug has been disconnected. YES, I KNOW the plug is disconnected, I disconnected it!! I just want to shut it off completely, and the trailer connector to work “normally”.
