Turbocharged 1992 Ford Escort GT Looks Like Tons Of Cheap Fun

Modifications like slapping turbochargers on four-cylinders and installing widebody kits are generally reserved for the import crowd, which has been doing such things for many years now. But that same principle also applies to this very unique 1992 Ford Escort GT that’s currently up for sale on Craigslist. And it also just so happens to look like a really good time for not much money.

With an asking price of $4,500, this 1992 Ford Escort GT has been fitted with a full laundry list of modifications, starting under the hood. There, the original four-cylinder powerplant has been treated to a Garrett GT28 dual ball bearing turbo as well as an ECU tune, a Perrin intercooler, Tial 38mm external wastegate, and an upgraded fuel system, which sends power to the front wheels via a manual transmission.

The exterior has received an overhaul as well, one that includes wider fender flares to cover a set of white Diamond Racing wheels and extra-wide tires. That, coupled with the big hood scoop, rear spoiler, fender flares, and missing front bumper probably kill off any sleeper appeal the car might have had, however.

Inside the cabin, the Escort has been treated to a Corbeau racing seat, harnesses, and a newer stereo system, along with some extra gauges in the A-pillar to help keep an eye on what’s going on under the hood.

Some will obviously hate on this Escort and decry the entire import scene, but to us, it looks like good clean fun. And we imagine that it’s quite a bit faster than any stock Escort GT ever was, thanks mostly to that huffer under the hood.
