When most think of the vehicles used in the hit movie Ford v Ferrari, they understandably picture the many amazing Ford GT40s that starred in the film, as well as Carroll Shelby‘s Shelby Cobra and even the original Ford Mustang. But this 1965 Ford Econoline, made to look exactly like a real van used by Shelby American, is going up for grabs at an online Volocars auction taking place April 14th-21st.
The Shelby replica 1965 Ford Econoline van will be joined by a host of other movie cars and museum props at the sale, all of which will be sold with no reserve, as a museum looks to thin out its vast collection a little. That creates a pretty cool opportunity for someone, especially since this van has a very reasonable estimated selling price of just $30k-$40k.
What makes this Econoline even cooler is the fact that it was the only one created for use in the film, and the crew even made a matching die-cast model to go along with it. The seller hasn’t provided any additional details about the van, but it’s obviously a very cool retro-looking showpiece that’s sure to attract attention everywhere it goes.
On the outside, the Econoline is painted a very appropriate blue color with white “Cobra Racing Division” lettering adorning the sides and “Cobra Powered By Ford” lettering in the rear. The doors list Shelby American as the van’s owner, and also provide the shop’s address in Venice, California. A set of white bumpers and white steel wheels with chrome caps completes the vintage look.
As is the case with most movie vehicles, the rest of the van is nothing to write home about. There’s a healthy amount of patina inside the Econoline, and the engine bay and undercarriage aren’t perfect by any means. But to us, that only adds to its charm, particularly for all the Shelby fans out there in the world who might want to use it as the perfect complement to their “other” car.

Apparently power washing the engine compartment didn’t enter the owner’s mind? Wow.
