2021 Ford Expedition vs. 2022 Jeep Wagoneer: Dimensional Comparison

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer debuted just last week as a direct Ford Expedition competitor, alongside the more luxurious Grand Wagoneer, which will compete with the Lincoln Navigator. These large SUVs share quite a few things in common, though they are a bit different, dimensionally speaking. Thus, we’ve put together a full dimensional comparison to make it easier to compare these two body-on-frame SUVs.

Exterior Dimensions

When comparing the exterior dimensions of these two big utilities, it’s immediately clear that the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is larger in almost every regard. The Wagoneer is nearly five inches longer and almost four inches wider than the Expedition, as well as an inch taller. However, the Expedition Max is a full seven inches longer than the Wagoneer, which won’t be offered in a longer wheelbase variant, at least at launch.

Interior Dimensions

Despite their exterior differences, on the inside, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and 2021 Ford Expedition measure up closely, save for third-row legroom, where the Expedition shines with 4.3 additional inches. The Expedition does have nearly two inches less headroom in the third row, while almost every other measurement is within an inch or less of each other.

Cargo Room

Finally, we have cargo room, which is where the new Wagoneer really shines. The big Jeep SUV offers up a full 12.1 additional inches of cargo volume behind the first row, 7.2 inches behind the second row, and 6.5 inches behind the third row. However, as one might imagine, the extended Expedition Max trumps the Wagoneer in all three areas.
