2021 Ford Ranger Drops Pickup Box Delete Option In The U.S.

The Ford Ranger was available with a pickup box delete option in the U.S. for the 2019 and 2020 model years, but FoMoCo is dropping the option for the 2021 model year. For the 2020 model year, the pickup box delete option was only available on XL trim Rangers and in two-wheel-drive configuration. According to research conducted by Ford Authority, the Ranger was the last U.S. mid-sized pickup in its segment to offer a pickup box delete option.

Even though the 2021 Ford Ranger will not be available with a bed delete option, Ford has plenty of other bedless/chassis cab vehicle options for commercial buyers to choose from. That includes the Ford Super Duty in F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 configurations, the F-650 and F-750 medium-duty, the Ford Transit, and the Ford E-Series.

This is one of a handful of changes present in the 2021 Ford Ranger, as we’ve reported in recent months. As Ford Authority exclusively reported, the 2021 Ranger will be available with a black Ford logo as part of the Black Appearance Package, though it will no longer offer heated windshield wipers, as we reported last October.

In addition to the introduction of the new Tremor off-road package, the 2021 Ranger will also be available with a new STX Special Edition Package, which enhances the already available STX Appearance Package with a host of appearance upgrades and tech options.

For those that covet a little extra power and off-road performance from their pickup, the newly-available Ford Performance Parts Packages come with a host of upgrades including a performance calibration that increases horsepower by 16 percent, an off-road leveling kit, Fox shocks, 17-inch Dyno Gray wheels, and Ford Performance graphics on the bed and windshield.

We’ll have much more on the 2021 Ranger soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Ranger news and continuous Ford news coverage.
