Over the years, virtually every sort of vehicle imaginable has been turned into a stretch limo, including giant trucks and sports cars. But this 2016 Ford Explorer limousine is a bit more conventional, trading flash and pizazz for a more understated appearance. Or, at least, as understated as stretch limo can be. And now, it’s also up for sale over at Seibels Auto for $59,988.
That asking price makes this Ford Explorer limousine a pretty solid buy as well, considering the fact that it originally stickered for a whopping $150,000. And with just under 18k miles on the clock, it’s in great condition as well. The Pearl White exterior looks to be in excellent shape, as is the plush interior that’s covered in leather and filled with all the things we’d expect to see in a proper limo.
That includes a bar, television, Pioneer/Kicker stereo system with a DVD player, and enough seating for all our friends. And it’s probably not terrible to drive either (save for its insanely wide turning radius), thanks to its Ford 3.5L EcoBoost V6 powerplant and all-wheel-drive configuration.
Sadly, aftermarket limos like this Explorer from Specialty Vehicle Conversion are all we’ve got left for those that want to buy FoMoCo limos these days. As we reported last year, Lincoln discontinued its MKT limousine program, which has its cross-town rival Cadillac looking to move in on its territory in that regard.
Of course, the limo market isn’t exactly big enough to really make a major impact on either automakers’ financials, but there’s just something cool about seeing a stretched Blue Oval hauling celebrities, presidents, or just a bunch of high schoolers headed to prom. And while this Explorer limo might be a bit more subtle than most, that’s a quality that’ll likely prove appealing to at least one famous person out there.
