The Ford Authority Take

Ford Brazil sales suffered a notable decline in April, representing the 16th consecutive month that the brand’s sales volume has suffered in the South American country. April 2020 was the first month that Brazilian authorities enacted stay-at-home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling many manufacturers to post sales growth during April 2021. However, Ford was not so lucky.

Four of the six models that Ford offers in Brazil suffered significant sales declines in April, led by EcoSport and Ka that abruptly ceased production at the beginning of the year as FoMoCo decided to cease all production in the country, crushing partially-built models in the process. The Argentina-made Ford Ranger was the only Ford model that registered positive figures, continuing to establish itself as the brand’s best-selling model in the Brazilian market.
