The 2021 Ford Expedition has earned several accolades in recent months, including being named to Consumer Reports’ “Most Satisfying Cars list.” Now, Kelley Blue Book has placed the Expedition on its Best Family Cars of 2021 list, which features top expert recommendations based on in-depth testing with a focus on safety, overall value, connectivity, technology, and driver-assist features.
“When it comes to buying a car for a new or growing family, parents understandably want assurance that their vehicle has outstanding safety and technology features to help protect their precious cargo,” said Matt DeLorenzo, senior managing editor for Kelley Blue Book. “We also know budget factors are top-of-mind for families, so we place a heavy emphasis on overall value including purchase and ownership costs through Kelley Blue Book’s Fair Purchase Price and 5-Year Cost to Own information.”
The Best Family Cars of 2021 include two- and three-row crossover SUVs offering the passenger and cargo-carrying capacity that make them go-to choices, and full-size SUVs/minivans that hold appeal for their roominess and flexibility. However, as more and more consumers gravitate toward crossovers and SUVs, those continue to dominate the list.
KBB named the Expedition as a top choice in the full-size SUV segment, noting that it “takes the idea of a 20th-century eight-passenger, full-sized American vehicle and gives it an overhaul, offering a better ride, more comfort, and a wealth of driver assistance features.”
The continued success of the 2021 Expedition bodes well for the forthcoming, refreshed 2022 model. We expect the 2022 Ford Expedition to receive a mid-cycle action (aka refresh) consisting of a revised exterior with new front and rear-end designs, a revised interior including an all-new infotainment system with a large, vertically-oriented screen similar to the 15.5-inch unit used in the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the addition of Ford’s 3.5L PowerBoost V6 hybrid powerplant, and a new off-road-oriented trim level possibly called Timberline.
We’ll have more on the Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
