2021 Ford Transit

As of this writing, the 2021 Transit is available at the retail and fleet level, as the Ford Kansas City Assembly plant has been producing the van for some time now. However, the ongoing microchip shortage has moderately impacted production at the facility, so shoppers interested in models clad in the new Avalanche Gray color should check with their dealers regarding pricing and availability of the full-size vans.

Ford Authority has extensively covered the changes to the Ford Transit lineup for the 2021 model year, which include alterations to the Motorhome Prep Package and the addition of the RV Prep Package, Adventure Prep Package, Parcel Delivery Package, and Livery Package. Every one of the aforementioned equipment bundles are designed to appeal to van shoppers with unique use cases, with the RV Prep Package and Adventure Prep Package having been created specifically to address growing demand for active lifestyle vehicles.

The Ford Transit is in its seventh year of production and is coming off a slight update for the 2020 model year, which saw the van gain all-wheel drive as an option. However, the Ford 2.0L EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel option, previously announced by Ford, never made it to North America. Instead, Ford Motor Company diverted the resources to bring to market the electric 2022 Ford E-Transit, which will arrive at dealerships nationwide later this year.

According to the paint on the vehicles, it’s not. Avalanche (DR) is NOT a new color.
