The refreshed 2022 Ford Super Duty was revealed back in early March with some new interior and exterior color options, upgraded tech features, and the addition of some new and revised appearance packages. Now, Ford Authority has learned from sources familiar with Ford’s product plans that 2022 Ford Super Duty production is scheduled to begin in July.
2021 Ford Super Duty production will end at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant on July 8th, 2021, and the Ford Ohio Assembly Plant on July 21st, 2021. Order banks for the 2022 model opened up back on March 15th, and 2022 Ford Super Duty production is currently scheduled to begin at the Kentucky Truck Plant on July 9th, 2021, and at the Ohio Assembly Plant on July 22th, 2021.
However, it is worth noting that the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage may very well change these plans or disrupt production altogether. 2021 Super Duty production has been severely impacted by the shortage, leading Ford to stash thousands of unfinished models near the Kentucky Truck Plant in recent weeks.
Regardless, when it does launch, the 2022 Super Duty will sport a new 12-inch infotainment screen that’s similar to the one in the 2021 Ford F-150. The new screen is standard equipment on Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims and features Ford’s SYNC 4 software with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility, and SYNC AppLink apps. XL series 2022 Super Duty models come equipped with a 4.2-inch screen, while XLT trims come with an 8-inch touchscreen as standard equipment.
On the outside, Ford has added one new exterior color – Atlas Blue – and three new interior color schemes – Baja for Lariat-trimmed trucks, and Navy Pier and Light Slate for Limited trims. The Black Appearance Package is now available on XLT models and includes 20-inch Ebony Black-painted premium wheels, body-color front and rear bumpers, grille bars, six-inch Ebony Black running boards, and front and rear black Blue Ovals.
The 2022 Super Duty is also available with a new Lariat Sport Appearance Package that includes body-color bumpers, exterior mirrors, and grille, as well as a chrome exhaust tip and black platform running boards.
We’ll have more on the 2022 Ford Super Duty soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford F-Series news, Ford Super Duty news, and continuous Ford news coverage.

WHAT ABOUT THE EXPIDITION PRODUCTION?
The SD is one good looking truck!
You bet, so much better looking then those weird things GM created
More information on the new electric pickup i.e. how much money!
Is the Black Appearance Package being eliminated from the Lariat? Or, just available on the XLT as well as the Lariat?
I believe the new ‘sport appearance package’ will be body colour grille and mirror caps instead of black but the black 20″ wheels and emblems will remain.
F250 built 4 21 21 and ford can’t answer why trucks built after are showing up at dealers as inventory. Please explain Ford.
I still have no truck! Ordered my 2021 F250 XLT on March 2, 2021, got the VIN with April 21 on the window sticker. Stays page indicates in production May10. Then crickets… delivery date was May 29, then June29, now October 31. Really poor customer service from Ford. I really wish would just go ahead tell me that they have no clue when I will get the truck. At least tell me something!! I’m looking at a Ram 2500 this weekend, at least they have some trucks on the lots, and not a parking lot in Kentucky where my truck is parked. I should probably just cancel the order and try again for a 2022. My truck will be 1-year old before it is ever delivered.
So agree with you. Horrible customer service.call ford they say call dealer call dealer they say call ford. Do they even care. Ford family my butt.
So, my 2021 F-250 XLT Race Red finally arrived on July 29th and I took delivery on July 31st. The Ford tracking site indicated delivery the week of August 1st – 7th and the site went from “shipped” to delivery within about 1-week. Truck sat in Kentucky since late April or early May. Door frame sticker indicates April 21.
As a result of sitting at the Kentucky Motor Speedway and not being sheltered or protected from the weather I had to spend 2-days deep cleaning the entire vehicle. Not just a typical dealership wash and shine the tires. I had to wash multiple times, clay bar the entire truck, polish remaining water spots, polish water spots off all glass, apply ceramic paint coating, and now it looks like a new truck. People that purchase black, red, or other darker colors will likely need to do the same. White and lighter colors do not show the imperfections as much, they are still there just not as noticeable.
Do I like the truck, yes. Would I do it again, yes. I just really wish Ford would have been honest with their customers and managed expectations better. Communication and transparency goes a long way.
Just ordered my 22 f250 lariat. Dealership says about 10-12 weeks. The 22’s won’t start being built until mid July.
I think they are being a little optimistic with 10 – 12 weeks, I think it will be more like 6 to 8 months.
Just ordered a 2022 F250 Lariat Sport/Tremor Package 4×4 June 25th. I was told it still hasn’t even been processed yet.
My salesman text me this when I ask the status and how it works..
The order will go in to an order bank. As soon as we can get an allocation for it, your x-plan order will get pulled by Ford, and the order will be sent to the plant. Once that happens, it usually takes a week or so before it is assigned a vin number. Once it has one, I will send you the vin, order number, and link to the Order Tracking website. That will allow you to track it like a FedEx package. It will be sent to one of two holding yards by train. One is in New Orleans and one is in Jackson. From there it will get loaded on a truck and dropped off to us.
The majority of the time involved in the process is spent shipping the truck and waiting for the order to get pulled.
Not sure if anyone has heard similar things… But seems like it might be a while???
That’s funny
I ordered my new 2022 F350 Superduty with the Tremor package on May 26th. Ford picked up the order the week after the dealer submitted the order. I had a VIN number in less than 2 weeks. There isn’t much point to tracking since its really a slow process. Once they receive the order that’s all it shows until the actual production begins. My truck is scheduled to be built on 7/20/2021. From there it will go to a rail yard and get shipped. My guy at the dealership said that total transit time should be 3 weeks. Ford dealers and the manufacturing plants are prioritizing pre-sold retail units over dealer stock. I have faith that it will be here the middle of August.
I hope you are not trusting your dealer or Ford for that matter. My 2021 ordered 3 4 21 built 4 21 21 is not scheduled for delivery tell 10 31 21. I have been told ford will not deliver 1 2022 tell ALL 2021 orders have been delivered.
Not true Joel… got 900 miles on my 2022 super duty
My 2021 to arrive at dealerships within the week -2000.00 for the wait.
Ordered 2021 tremor in January
Got changed to a 22 in March as they
Stopped building 21s. Now they say End of August for delivery. Not holding my breath
Did you get a Vin# yet to track it???
2022 what a joke I can’t get my 2021 I ordered 2/27/21 , yet dealers are getting trucks built after mine ,sitting at storage lot with no one to clean it start it ect battery and tires will be a year old and bird dropping stains forever mine , Thanks FORD
Feel your pain . No help.or updates from Ford or dealer. way to treat the working man ford. All kinds of updates on the bronco but f#%$ the work truck. 200k points for the bronco but f*$^ the work truck . Come on ford do better for the people that have built you…. the working group
Got my 2022 XLT 6.7 F-350… no changes..
Maybe the grill a little
When did you order yours? Just wondering how long it will take. I actually went to another dealer after waiting 5 weeks for an allocation. For some reason they wasn’t getting any allocations.. The new Ford dealer ordered my truck that week. I already got an email from Ford saying my truck order is confirmed. Next step on the email showed for it to be scheduled for production. Just wondered how long before it moves to the next step..
I am tired of the BS from Ford. I’m going to wait for another two months for the backlog of new 2021’s and the deals and rebates Ford will have to give to clear their lots for the 2022’s There should be some good deals. Tired of this crap. Like many have said, why buy a one year old 2021 even though the new 2022 only has basic software, screen, etc for changes.
ORDERED MINE 4/12/21. 2022 F-350 XLT. I CALLED THE DEALER. THEY GAVE ME NO NOTICE OF VIN# YET. ALL THEY SAID WAS WAIT TILL END OF NOVEMBER. FORD BETTER GIVE SOME KIND OF INCENTIVE..!
You will get the same incentive that I got…get in line and shut up. I ordered a 2021 F-250 XLT 7.3l on March 2nd and took delivery on July 31st. Basically no communication from Ford at all. I followed the lack of progress with the Ford app on my phone. As an added slap in the face, Ford offered incentives for people that ordered a 2021 in early April. I ordered in March and got nothing at all. In fairness to Ford, all manufacturers are in the same situation with parts, however sending customers an email sympathizing with the wait costs almost nothing.
I ordered my F350 2022 STX back in august, does anyone know when will this supper duty be out
My boy ordered his 2022 ford diesel in November 21 delivered his 2020 GMC diesel trade to the dealer here it is middle of April 22 still no build date how long do they expect him to go with out a truck.
Would like information on the 2022 King Ranch that I order on February 16, 2022. I have not received a Vin or nothing or than being told its in production by ford customer service. They couldn’t say anything else due to no Vin number issued.
