The 2021 Ford F-150 is a capable pickup regardless of trim level or drivetrain, particularly in terms of maximum towing capacity and payload ratings. As we can see from this chart, the heavy-duty package significantly increases maximum payload across the board, anywhere from roughly 500 to nearly 1,000 pounds, depending on the configuration. However, there are several caveats in regards to which trims and configurations can be combined with the package.
The package is optional on XL, XLT Standard, and XLT mid-trimmed 2021 F-150 pickups. It is not available with 122-inch or 145-inch wheelbases, the STX Appearance Package, XL/XLT Chrome Appearance Package, or XLT Sport Appearance Package. Additionally, the package requires that the F-150 be equipped with either Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6 or 5.0L Coyote V8.
The payload package includes a 3.73-geared electronic-locking rear axle, 9.75-inch gearset, 36-gallon fuel tank (except XL regular cab models), LT265/70R18C OWL all-terrain tires, upgraded springs, and unique 18-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels.

When the F-150 was first announced 46 years ago (I was selling them back then!!) the maximum GVW was 6100#. How things have improved.
So what does the heavy duty payload package have to do with all the other packages that you cant get with it? Like the chrome package, why on earth can’t you get both?
I would imagine because the chrome package wouldn’t look good with the silver painted wheels that come with the payload package, but thats just a guess. I wish the hybrid I have on order had more cargo capacity in case I wanted a camper
Are these dry weights, or does this include fuel and other fluids?
I would attribute not being able to order HDPP with other trim packages is Ford’s desire to not cannibalize SuperDuty sales. Personally, I don’t see them as being the same. I want an EcoBoost which I can’t get in SuperDuty, so I’d never buy.
My ideal F150 would be a Lariat 502A PowerBoost with HDPP. I can always dream.
So I bought an F-350 Dually with the upgraded towing packing 14000# but yet you all throw a medium-duty towing receiver on it???? What is the point of it if you put on a medium-sized receiver?
