Back in January, Ken Block and Ford announced that the two were ending their 10-year relationship so that Block could pursue new opportunities. Since then, the pro racer and internet star has been selling off a number of his iconic Blue Oval vehicles, including his 2011 Fiesta GYM3, 1986 RS200 Evolution, and 2013 Fiesta ST RX43. Additionally, Block’s Gymkhana Five Ford Fiesta is on display at The Henry Ford’s new “Driven to Win: Racing in America” exhibit. Now, Block’s 1977 Ford F-150 – dubbed “Hoonitruck” – is up for sale at LBI Limited, but with a rather lofty asking price.
This might just be the most expensive 1977 Ford F-150 in existence, in fact, thanks to its eye-watering $1.1 million dollar price tag. But this is no average Ford F-150, of course. This truck starred in Climbkhana Two, Gymkhana Ten, and The Gymkhana Files, racking up over 75 million views on YouTube in the process. The truck is also a one-off build pieced together by Detroit Speed, Ford, Block, and his team.
Power certainly isn’t a problem, as the Hoonitruck features a highly modified, Ford GT Le Mans program-derived version of Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6 under its giant hood. The prototype engine features a billet aluminum block and custom 3D-printed intake manifold, among various other mods, which help it produce an astounding 914 horsepower and 702 pound-feet of torque. That power flows through a Sadev six-speed manual transmission to all four wheels.
Riding on a custom tube chassis with aluminum bodywork and a custom ST/KW suspension, the Hoonitruck certainly doesn’t drive like any other F-150 on the planet. But as insane as it seems, the Hoonitruck is also somewhat practical, with features including a backup camera and tow hitch, for those times when the new owner wants to pull a trailer in style.
Needless to say, the opportunity to buy something like this doesn’t come along very often, and we imagine that someone out there with the means will jump at the opportunity. And since the Hoonitruck reportedly cost $1.5 million to build, they might just be getting a bargain, too.
