2021 Ford Escape SEL AWD Stealth Package Blacks Out The Crossover

The versatile 2021 Ford Escape reached dealerships earlier this year, and as Ford Authority previously explained, arrived with some changes for the new model year, including different paint options and the rationalization of the hybrid model throughout the lineup. The Blue Oval opted to switch things up even further with the newly available SEL Stealth AWD Package, and one particular Escape equipped with the package captivated us at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show, mostly due to the unique changes it introduces to the crossover.

Like the Lincoln Monochromatic Package and Ford Super Duty Lariat Black Appearance Package before it, the SEL Stealth AWD Package takes the 2021 Ford Escape and blacks out certain elements of the vehicle, giving the crossover a slightly sportier aesthetic while simultaneously separating it from other Escape models. The comprehensive equipment grouping cost $1,295 and includes the following:

  • 19-inch Ebony-painted aluminum wheels
  • ActiveX seating with Miko suede inserts
  • Gloss black badges and emblems
  • Black upper window molding with black beltline molding
  • Floor mats front and rear with special logo
  • Black front and rear skid plates
  • Black front and rear Ford oval
  • Gloss black upper 5-bar grille with chrome surround
  • Gloss black sideview mirror caps

Buyers interested in the 2021 Ford Escape SEL Stealth AWD Package should note that it requires the Ford 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, and, as the name suggests, is only available on SEL models paired with all-wheel drive. That pushes the price to a minimum $35,990 MSRP before incentives. That said, all paint options can be combined with the package. Those interested in snagging one should check with their local dealers though, as the ongoing chip shortage has impacted production at the Ford Louisville Assembly plant, which has been sporadically building the 2021 model since January 2021.

  1. When will TPI be added to all engines to prevent intake carbon build up in gdi engines? I am in the market for replacements for my 2003 Explorer xlt and 2005 Escape Limited
