Camping and overlanding are all the rage these days as more and more people are looking to get outdoors, off the grid, and enjoy some quiet time with nature. But while most purchase or build vans converted into campers – like the Ford Transit – others choose to stick with pickups and add some sort of living quarters in the bed area. That’s precisely the case with this 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat currently up for grabs at Cars & Bids, though its camper section is a bit different than most.
Out back, an A.R.E. Z Series color match shell covers the bed and a custom bed drawer system. We suppose the new owner could throw a mattress back there and be just fine, but personally, we’d put a roof tent up top, where a custom modular roof rack system is already installed. Either way, this 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat is equipped with a host of other goodies that should make it a comfy mobile living space.
That parts list includes a CTEK 140A dual-battery management system with a solar hook up, as well as 27M 92 amp-hour main and 31M 105 amp-hour auxiliary batteries. All of that powers a bed-mounted electrical panel with DC and USB plugs and a 110V bed port that’s connected to a 125W Pure Sine Wave inverter, as well as lots of auxiliary LED lighting.
Underneath, this Ford F-150 has been treated to a two-inch front leveling kit, Bilstein rear shocks, and a super Springs rear leaf helper to handle the extra weight and make room for a set of bronze 17×9.5-inch Black Rhino wheels wrapped with meaty General Grabber A/T tires. And in case the new owner gets a flat out in the middle of nowhere, there’s also a 48-inch ratchet jack mounted in the bed, too.
Otherwise, this nicely-equipped Lariat has plenty of power thanks to Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6, and it looks the part finished in Tuxedo Black with tinted windows. Overall, this F-150 seems like a nice way to get out and do some camping on the weekends, without having to spend a bunch of money on a tow rig and a camper or an RV.
