2021 Ford Bronco Nominated For 2022 North American Utility Of The Year

As Ford Authority reported yesterday, the 2022 Ford Maverick has been nominated for 2022 North American Truck of the Year. Last year, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E was named the 2021 North American Utility of the Year, while the all-new 2021 Ford F-150 earned 2021 North American Truck of the Year honors, marking the first time since 2014 that the same brand has won multiple North American vehicle of the year awards in the same year. Now, FoMoCo will attempt a repeat, as the 2021 Ford Bronco has also been nominated for 2022 North American Utility of the Year.

The North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) Awards organization announced its list of semifinalists at the first-ever Motor Bella event at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan recently. A grand total of 23 different vehicles received nominations – nine utility vehicles, eight cars, and six trucks out of 36 eligible vehicles that are either substantially new or all-new.

The Ford Bronco will be going up against eight other vehicles vying for 2022 North American Utility of the Year honors, including the Genesis GV70, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, Kia Carnival, Nissan Pathfinder, and Volkswagen ID.4.

“This year’s group of semifinalists includes some of the most interesting and innovative cars, trucks, and utility vehicle candidates in recent memory,” said NACTOY President Gary Witzenburg. “A larger number of new trucks than we’ve seen in many years. And it features more electric vehicles than we’ve ever seen, all of which our jurors will continue to test and evaluate prior to our next vote.”

The NACTOY winners will be chosen by a panel of 50 jurors from the U.S. and Canada following a year-long evaluation. Each of those jurors votes three times through the course of the year, narrowing down the field of candidates to a group of semifinalists, finalists, and eventually determining the winners.

Jurors will evaluate the semifinalists during a comparison drive scheduled to take place October 18th-21st, and will then vote to determine three finalists from each category. Those finalists will be announced at the L.A. Auto Show on November 17th, while the winners will be revealed at the Detroit Auto Dealers Association in Detroit in January of 2022.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

Regardless of whether or not you take delivery of it. I mean sure, hand an award to something that hasn’t had much road time. The road time it has had only led to delays because the MIC tops failed and had to be remade. So stop production, make us wait longer. Even though the problem was limited ( I know because I talked to a guy that has a first edition and a Badlands) . He said he has zero issues with his top. How he got 2 delivered to him, he’s a big VIP sales guy for Ford. So Ford plays favorites, that’s a known fact. I’m way off track here, I apologize. No, I love the Bronco, but it deserves ZERO awards until it road tested by us reservation holders.
