2022 Ford Expedition Reveal Set For Tuesday, September 21st

Over the last few months, Ford Authority has reported extensively on the forthcoming 2022 Ford Expedition, which is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh. Following the recent unveiling of the Expedition’s Ford T3 Platform mate, the  2022 Lincoln Navigator, it was evident that the 2022 Ford Expedition reveal was just around the corner. And now, it has finally been revealed that the 2022 Ford Expedition reveal will take place Tuesday, September 21st at the Motor Bella event at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan.

The 2022 Expedition will be displayed alongside the 2022 Lincoln Navigator and the Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept at the new show, which will feature 350 vehicles from 35 brands and is open to the public from September 23rd-26th. Motor Bella will replace this year’s 2021 North American International Auto Show, which was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Ford Expedition is expected to receive a mid-cycle refresh consisting of some exterior styling tweakstech upgrades, and changes to the SUV’s interior. As Ford Authority reported earlier this month, it will also reportedly boast over-the-air update capability and Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving feature ahead of a more extensive redesign and the addition of a hybrid powertrain in 2024.

Additionally, a more rugged, off-road focused Expedition Timberline model is expected to join the lineup, which will feature a unique front-end design, Timberline logos and badging, orange-red tow hooks, a taller ride height, and unique wheels wrapped with 265/70R18 white-letter Goodyear Wrangler Terrain AT/S tires. The Expedition Timberline will also likely feature many of the same tweaks present in the Ford Explorer Timberline, which comes with specially tuned shocks and stabilizer bars, a unique steering calibration, a front rebound spring, and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

In addition to the Timberline model, Ford Authority spies have recently spotted regular-length and extended-length Max 2022 Expedition prototypes wearing a number of ST-like touches, including sporty 22-inch  wheels, stickier road tires, a dual-tip exhaust, and red-painted brake calipers – which will be available as an option on the 2022 Expedition, as Ford Authority was the first to report.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Hope it ends up with the normal Sync 4 system from the F-150 and not that ugly iPad thing glued to the dash from the Mach E (which looks great on the Mach E but looks like a afterthought on the Expedition(mostly because it is)). If it does that might persuade me to get the Wagoneer instead especially if it ends up with a plug in hybrid since those are included in the federal tax credit.
